What does pi sound like?

K, so I just found out last night, that yesterday was pi day!
Which I think is a bit weird- why on earth would you dedicate a whole day to a mathamatical term? I was surrounded by math on my first day of spring break...

And then I saw this video and it didn't matter if it made sense because this is totally awesome!!!

Spring Writing Gala

Hooray it has arrived! haha. I wish I could have started yesterday, but... yup its today. ;)

If it seems I was feeling really hyper and random during this post... ya. I was.

Ok so first we are answering questions. (Which I am really not good at, so I am slightly disappointed honestly- but not much :). And here is a little bit about myself, for anyone who doesn't know:

My name of choice is Josien ( jō - seen ). I am a teenage girl striving to live
a life for Christ- my Creator, Savior, and everthing I need. I am homeschooled,
and I think God designed me so as to give the word petite a purpose. Among other things I love to write [duh moment- isn't that what this post is about?], and had a deliciouse coffe drink this morning... That's all you need to know for now ;)

So these are my answeres:

How long have you been writing?

I think I was around 8 or 10, but my excitement about it since then has gone up and down. Recently I love it though! I've really always loved it, I just didn't do it enough to realize it.

When did you first realize how much you loved writing?

Well, when I started doing it more ;) 6th grade maybe? I honestly don't remember exactly the first time. I think because the first time I did it, I liked it a little, but each time I tried again, I learned more, and I loved it more. So when I first reached that level of loving it... I don't think there was one. "Sometimes love just comes softly" <-- Love that show!!

What is your favorite thing about writing?

It's really hard to narrow it down to one thing, but one of my favorites, is that you can take a blank page and a pen- then creat anything you want! Anything, just from a couple small, insignifagant tools. Like how God did with us :)

Which do you like better, Planning or Rewriting?

Um, it depnds on the extent of the planning/rewriting. I do like organizing and getting my ideas strait, but certain forms of planning I don't enjoy, and I would rather rewrite. I like rewriting because I love getting it just right. Then again, if it is a lot of rewritng it's discouraging sometimes having to cross so much out- I feel like it was a lot of wasted time.

What do you consider your best work of writing?

Well I don't have any published work or anything. I'm not sure I understand this question. If we're talking about a book, I haven't finished one yet. If we're talking about anything I've ever written, I'd probably say Love and Death, because it means a lot to me personally. But I also think some of the best things I've written were not storys or poems. They were essays, or I was describing a specific scene. They were journal entries, or even a few blog posts. [I've never put a lot of thought into wich one was my best, so it would take me some time I do not have to sort through my favorites to figure that out] I don't think you need a story to write something wonderous, just speaking from personal opinion and experience.

What kind of writing do you feel the strongest in?

Definately fiction- I love it. Unless ofcourse you consider journal writing and the other stuff I've said above a kind of writing. [I guess that depends on the point of view.] I would pick that because I am very familiar with it, and because it is purely and simply my bare thoughts.

How many books have you started writing?

Technically I've started four- one when I was nine [as you can guess it wasn't very impressive and I don't know if it even counts. More like a lame short story] The second I was trying to remake Nancy Drew- that was a flop. The third was also a "failure" but still saved neatly in a file for when I know more I'm ready to finish it. I just started the fourth. This one will not follow the pattern. ;]
How many books have you finished writing?

See above. =]

How many books are you working on right now?

Am I the only one that answeres a question thouroughly? lol jk =]

Have you ever taken a writing class?

I took a creative writing class in middle school, but that's pretty much it.

If so, what did you get the most out of it?

It really opened my eyes to how much words can really do. How vividly they can paint a picture in your head. How much they can speak to your very soul. It was really helpful with learning poetry too. One line it qouted from a poem [I really wish I could remember the author, but at that time I didn't really care] I'll probably remember forevever. "Poetry is... not a rose, but the scent of a rose..." I think that apllies to other writing besides poetry too.

If you could write as good as anyone in the world, who would you choose?

If I had to pick one, Ted Dekker. *without hesitation* He is my favorite and most inspirational author. He writes the most captivating fiction. It really holds you to the last syllible. As great as the fiction is, what makes it brilliant is the amount of truth he can put into it. His books aren't just entertaining, they are thought provoking, and eye opening. He is different, some would say strange [what writer isn't?] but in a good way. He sees things other people don't.

For the same reasons, I could definately say C.S. Lewis too.

What have your family members told you about when you were little/what do you remember, and how might it apply to your writing life.

I'm not sure I understand this question either... I have always loved reading. like a lot. That's probably what first sparked my interest in writing, and what inspires it today.

“The man who never reads will never be read; he who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of other men’s brains, proves that he has no brains of his own.”

~Charles Spurgeon

well, I kind of sidetracked and rambled, but thanks for bareing with me!

...ok. thats all.

Wait! I lied. I'm sorry. There's more.

Love greater than my Failure...

Last night I tried to chhange my backround. I ended up making some unnecessary complications (that actually had nothing to do with a backround) and was unable to get what I want. It was late, and I reluctantly had to go to bed leaving it undone. I was frustrated at my inability to do something so seemingly simple that I had even done many times before. I lay there feeling like a complete idiot and total failure. ( a bit dramatic maybe, but true)

Instead of falling asleep, I couldn't help but reflect on other things I had failed at (well not permanantly). Music... writing... God... f-

God. Ya, I had failed God a lot.

It was upsetting, depressing even.

But then He reminded me o something I had read a few days earlier in We Would See Jesus.

The amazing fact that He calles us back to Him just as we are- broken, sinners, failurs. The Perfect Creator of the universe wants to be with us- even though we stumble *more like totall face plant* and even though we are bound to do it again.

It's not something we can understand. Because I suppose it really is impossible- but not for Him. Because He loves us that much.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~Romans 8:38-39

Spring Sunrise

*sigh* Yup. I changed my backround. again. ;)

Live with it.

It's called "spring sunrise" and I was so happy I found it on Shabby Blogs because the title practically screamed what I wanted. A feelling for the coming spring.

It's getting warmer, Robins are singing, and the days are getting longer. I have not seen any budding life yet where I am but I can't wait to see some!

I have a bad case of spring fever!

Have you not heard?!
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth!

So... Have you noticed my new backround? /:)
I like it better. it's brighter and calmer. Less dramatic, and I haven't decied yet if that's good or bad ;)
I know what your thinking, and yes I do change my backround, and other things on my blog a lot. But I can't help it. My blog is like a reflection of me, and I am always changeing- so is my blog.
Well, it also doesn't help that I get mood swings often.

The world's rythem

Caution: This post may seem random, unorganised, confusing, and unexplanitory. I tried to just write as ideas popped into my head.

Dear self,

Does the world have a rythem?
The world God created is contained in time; It began, it will end, but until then it will always remain in the present.
So I have to wonder-
Do things in the world- the falling of rain, the beat of waves, the rolling of clouds, when we are born and dieing- does it all connect ssomehow? Pulled together by the same heartbeat?
Bunny trail: Things like space and mathmatics... they are amazing. They are so specific, semetrical, and perfect [or God's are, man's measurements can not be exact].
Did you know that the distance between the a nucleouse and electrons [of a single atom] is the same ratio as the distance between the sun and planets? [read that again if you have to]
That seems like a major "coincedence" [another example of a devine design.]I don't know much about it but science obviously shows the universe works so brilliantly with mathmatics.
So what about time? Isn't time and arithmatic rerlated? So in turn, would it be realted to the universe's...mathmatics? [again, this is tricky for me to think about because I really don't know much about it.] But obviously,we use arithmatic to keep track of time at least. Maybe, through some bigger design that God is undoubtedly capeble of, some things that would seem random to us- or unrelateable at least -really all have the same rythem. The direction and speed of windthe beat of a pulsar, the rate at wich a flower grows - could time be working with them in the same way that they would be traced back to the same beat?
Bunny trail: the mathmatical term pi is a seemingly infinate number. They can not dtermine the end, even with modern calculaters- they just round it off. It obviously does have an end though [or does it /:] but God is able to get that specific and detailed even though we can't. So even things that are relative, variables, and that seem to have no rythem- The scratcth of a pencil, the the flight of an arrow, a three year old's dance moves - could they also [when studied in great detail that maybe only God can do] have a rythem, a heartbeat in common? We are limmited after all.

have I been spelling "rythem" wrong this whole time...?

Well, anyhow, thanks for putting up with my ramblings [wich you obiously did, if you read this far]...

okloveyoubye.

True Heroism

Dear self,

What is True Heroism?
When this earth ends, when the records of people with their lives and legacys are complete, who will be the heros? When time has held all it can contain, what great deeds of heroism will it tell of?

Perhaps, if truth be told, we will not hear of the heros from storybooks. Perhaps it will not be of those who were the strongest, the bravest, most clever or most charming; Not of those with long epitaths above thier silent grave, or who's story was carried for generations. Not even the underdogs who showed the world the good things they could do, whom we so admire.

Maybe when that ending moment comes, a new light will be shed on the unseen. For the True Heros of this world fight their battles in the shadows. He will fight against the evil of himself, and will not stop untill he has won. The greatest foe man can face that does not rest, he fights. When it seems he is alone, he will still stand. And when his heart is weary, it will still hold on. When his strength fails, he will
still swing his sword.

He may do some feat that men will praise, but his True victories will remain silent and hidden. There is nothing glorious about it, which seems confusing because the terrestrial battles are the greatest of all. But that is how man sees it. And the True Hero will remain unseen until this world has ceased and he is given a crown
of gold.
