To make a Prairie

listening to: the show by Lenka
word love: phosphenes- the stars and colors you see when you rub your eyes

To make a prairie it takes a clover and one bee,
One clover, and a bee,
And revery.
the revery alone will do,
If bees are few.

-Emily Dickinson

o goodness and gumdrops I love Emily Dickinson! Her poetry is simple and beautiful- I think this has to be one of my favorite-ist poems ever.

I am a quote junkie (see my new nifty quote box in the side bar), but every once in a while replacing "quote love" at the top I will put "word love" with a crazy dictionary word that makes me happy.
unfortunately i found some flaws with the English dictionary :(

Words that do not exist in the English language:

l' esprit de escalier: (French) The feeling you get after leaving a conversation, when you think of all the things you should have said. Translated it means "the spirit of the staircase."

waldeinsamkeit: (German) The feeling of being alone in the woods

meraki: (Greek) Doing something with soul, creativity, or love

forelsket: (Norwegian) The euphoria you experience when you are first falling in love.

gheegle: (Filipino) The urge to pinch or squeeze something that is unbearably cute.

pochemuchka: (Russian) A person who asks a lot of questions.

pena ajena: (Mexican Spanish) The embarrassment you feel watching someone else's humiliation

cualacino: (Italian) The mark left on a table by a cold glass.

saudade (sow-da-jee): (Portuguese, Galician) the feeling one gets when realizing one once had is lost and can never be had again

another reason why I want to be poly-lingual. some day!... why you laugh? It will happen I tell you!

okloveyoubye. :)

I'm nobody! Who are you?

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us--don't tell!
They'd banish us you know.

How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

~Emily Dickinson
Just curious- What is your interpertation of this poem?

Wait...

I read this poem by Russell Kelfer and I was just shocked by the overwhelming Truth and depth it had. So beautifully written!! Hope it encourages you like it did me.
Wait

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate...
And the Master so gently said, "Wait."

"Wait? You say wait?" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and I'm claiming your Word.

"My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to wait?
I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.

"You promised dear Lord, that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply."

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate,
As my Master replied again, "Wait."
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting for what?"

He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes met with mine...
and he tenderly said, I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken he sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

"I could give all you seek and pleased you would be.
You'd have what you want, but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint.
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.

"You'd not learn to see through clouds of despair;
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there.
You'd not know the joy of resting in me
When darkness and silence are all you can see.

"You'd never experience the fullness of love
When the peace of my spirit descends like a dove.
You would know that I give, and I save, for a start,
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My hart.

"The glow of my comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask
From an infinite God who makes what you have last.

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
Yes, you dearest dreams overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss, if I lost what I'm doing in you.

"So, be silent, ,y child, and in time you will see
That the greatest gift is to truly know me.
And though oft my answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still... Wait."

Death and Love

I am living in Death-

My heart still beats, but not for me

Another owns my every breath

I have no need for them you see

I am dieing in Love-

Drowning in a bottomless well

'Tis rich and sweet as that above

Of Its prominence my lips must tell

Knowing Love, Braving Death's Lair-

They have Joys that do not wain

Call me a fool-I will not care

Did you forget? I am dead to your scorn and pain
